Haere Mai, Welcome.
Well, hello there!
Kia ora and welcome to The May Magazine, a digital media platform showcasing music and creative work from Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond. It’s very nice to have you.
Launched in 2020 to be something of a mosaic of creativity, our intention with the magazine was to develop a community-oriented, welcoming and inclusive space with a special focus on musicians, artists and creatives whose work might fall outside of the mainstream. We showcase projects that excite us, taking the time to delve into these and shine a spotlight on what makes them special.
Our primary focus is on music, but alongside classic features, interviews and reviews across music, culture and lifestyle and the arts, you can also expect to find a plethora of book reviews, pithy poetry and short stories, reflective think pieces, and (naturally!) a collection of regularly updated playlists.
In discovering these artists and their work we hope that you’ll not only be delighted by the thrill of what you’ve found, but will also leave feeling inspired and refreshed yourself.
Pop on some headphones, make yourself at home and enjoy your little tumble down our eclectic May-shaped rabbit hole. We’ll see you on the other side.
