Manchester neo-psychedelic group The Watchmakers have kicked off 2021 in a way that bodes very well for their musical year to come. Hypnotic new single “Clover”, an uplifting track pushing six minutes, is a swirling haze of layered guitars and synths, mesmerising vocals and upbeat rhythms combining to create a sublime meld of textures to get lost in.

Produced by The Watchmakers and mastered by Jim Spencer (Charlatans, New Order), the track was recorded at Hope Mill Studios in Manchester, UK.

The single marks the band’s return from a longer than planned five year hiatus. Picking up where they left off, May and June of 2020 saw the group pave the way for their return by releasing a handful of previously unreleased demos recorded in an old rehearsal space. “Awake”, “Summer of Love” and double track “To Be Part of You” / “Kiminara” are available on Bandcamp here.

Reminiscent of the likes of psych rock acts The Verve, Primal Scream, BRMC and Noel Gallagher, The Watchmakers have gained recognition from music publications such as NME, and radio airplay from major radio networks including XFM (now Radio X), with BBC 6 recommending them as ‘ones to watch’ after they were invited to play a BBC showcase.

With rave live reviews, they have played numerous festivals including Isle Of Wight, Kendal Calling, Blue Dot and the British Sound Project.

“The visceral charge of BRMC and the psychedelic adventure of Primal Scream” (Manchester Evening News)

"Underground, psychedelic, cool as fuck” (Clint Boon, Inspiral Carpets)

"Putting the strut back into psych" (NME)
